In this interview excerpt, Joseph Weyland, Legation Secretary at the Luxembourg Embassy in Bonn from 1969 to 1972, discusses the circumstances surrounding his appointment to this post and the work he performed in this role. One of the issues on which he worked was the Aciéries Réunies de Burbach-Eich-Dudelange (ARBED), the Luxembourg steel company which had considerable financial interests in the collieries near Aachen.
