The CVCE is a partner of the conference ‘The elective principle in the European Union’, which will be held in connection with the Jean Monnet cross-border days on 5 and 6 June 2014 at the Robert Schuman House in Scy-Chazelles.
On 10 November 1954, Jean Monnet officially announces his decision not to request the renewal of his mandate as President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).
On 26 August 1971, Jean Monnet, President of the Action Committee for the United States of Europe (ACUSE), sends a letter to Pierre Werner, President of the Government and Finance Minister of Luxembourg and an active member of ACUSE, in which he shares his observations concerning the international monetary crisis.
In a letter to Robert Schuman dated 1 July 1952, Jean Monnet gives a progress report on the measures for breaking up the industrial monopolies and the abolition of the Ruhr cartels, which were scheduled to be undertaken before the establishment of the common market for coal and iron ore on 10 February 1953.
On 11 April 1959, Jean Monnet, President of the Action Committee for the United States of Europe, writes a letter to Cornelius Wilhelmus van Wingerden, Chairman of the Dutch Trade Union Federation, in which he informs him of his concerns regarding the consequences of the coal crisis.
On 5 April 1951, a few days before the signing of the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), Jean Monnet converses with Konrad Adenauer, German Federal Chancellor (on the right), and Walter Hallstein (on the left), German State Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
