In this letter to Jean Monnet, Pierre Mendès France, President of the Council and French Foreign Minister, describes the internal policy problems which he is encountering a few days before the vote in the French National Assembly on the ratification of the Treaty establishing the European Defence Community (EDC).

In this Note sent to Pierre Pflimlin, French Agriculture Minister, on 12 February 1951, Jean Monnet describes the supranational character that he would like to see applied to the plan for a ‘green pool’.

On 19 March 1951, Jean Monnet, Chairman of the Schuman Plan conference, welcomes the decision taken by the representatives of the six governments that participated in the negotiations on the Schuman Plan in Paris to initial the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) at the Quai d’Orsay.

Am 11. Juni 1955 übernimmt René Mayer (links) von Jean Monnet (rechts) offiziell das Amt des Präsidenten der Hohen Behörde der Europäischen Gemeinschaft für Kohle und Stahl (EGKS).

In seinen Erinnerungen schreibt Jean Monnet über Ankunft Maurice Lagranges, der den EGKS-Vertrag verfasste und später Generalanwalt am Gerichtshof war.
