In 1986, a commemorative plaque was affixed to the façade of the former building of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in Luxembourg, in the presence of Jacques Santer, Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from 1984 to 1995.

In his editorial on 4 March 1964, Emanuele Gazzo, Chief Editor of the Europe daily bulletin, analyses the subject of collegiality in decision-making at the EEC Commission, the EAEC Commission and the ECSC High Authority ahead of the merger of the three institutions into a single Commission of the European Communities.

Jean Monnet, President of the ECSC High Authority, makes a statement at the press conference held in Luxembourg on 9 February 1953 at the opening of the transitional period leading to a common market in coal and steel.

On 30 April 1953, Jean Monnet (centre), President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), presents the first block of European steel cast at the Belval steel plant in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. To emphasise the importance of the event, the five letters EUROP are engraved on one side of the block, thereby also symbolising the launch of the common market in coal and steel.

Von 1950 an ist der Franzose Jean Monnet, Generalkommissar für den Plan für Modernisierung und Infrastruktur, aktiv an der Schaffung der Europäischen Gemeinschaft für Kohle und Stahl (EGKS) beteiligt; von 1952 bis 1955 ist er Präsident der Hohen Behörde der EGKS in Luxemburg.

On 12 June 1950, Jean Monnet, Commissioner-General of the French National Planning Board, sends a note to the Interministerial Committee in which he identifies, particularly with regard to the future of the High Authority, the essential objectives of the negotiations due to open on 20 June in Paris between the representatives of the Six for the drafting of the Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).

On 22 September 1950, the heads of delegation of the countries participating in the negotiations on the Schuman Plan approve a report on the action and importance of the High Authority in the field of steel and coal production.
