On 14 September 1955, in front of their headquarters in Vienna, an allied patrol consisting of, from left to right, American, British, French and Soviet officers celebrate the end of the military occupation of Austria.

On 30 December 1948, the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC) publishes its Interim Report on the European Recovery Programme that focuses on the economic situation in Austria.

Die Kommunistische Partei Österreichs (KPÖ) veröffentlicht im Jahre 1994 eine Reihe von Plakaten, mit denen sie die Bürger dazu aufruft, bei der Volksabstimmung am 12. Juni 1994 über den Beitritt des Landes zur Europäischen Union mit „Nein" zu stimmen.

Dieses Plakat präsentiert die Ergebnisse der ersten Sitzung des Alliierten Rates für Österreich am 11. September 1945 in Wien. Im Rat tagen die vier Besatzungsmächte in Österreich (Vereinigte Staaten, Frankreich, Vereinigtes Königreich und Sowjetunion).

Am 6., 10. und 11. Juni 1994 veröffentlicht die unabhängige Bürgerinitiative „Zukunft Österreich" in der großen Tageszeitung Neue Kronen Zeitung eine Reihe von Beilagen, mit denen sie die Österreicher dazu aufruft, bei der Volksabstimmung über den Beitritt des Landes zur Europäischen Union mit „Nein" zu stimmen.

On 26 June 1994, the Austrian Chancellor, Franz Vranitzky, outlines in the Spanish daily newspaper El País the impact of Austrian accession to the European Union following the positive outcome of the referendum held two weeks previously in that country.

On 10 February 2000, the Austrian Permanent Representation sends the basic principles of the position adopted by the Austrian Federal Government for the Intergovernmental Conference on institutional matters to Javier Solana, Secretary-General of the Council/High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.

The reply from Austria, dated 15 October 2003, to the questionnaire on the legislative function, the formations of the Council and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, submitted by the Presidency on 19 September.

In 1999, the Austrian cartoonist Ironimus (Gustav Peichl) paints an ironic picture of the difficulties experienced by Austria (represented by a juggling Wolfgang Schüssel, Austrian Federal Foreign Minister) in trying to effectively combine the country’s principle of neutrality with full participation in Europe’s political and military organisations.

On 8 May 1956, at the end of the Geneva Tariff Conference, Austria and the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) sign two agreements: a protocol on an anti-dumping clause on trade in steel outside the framework of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and a tariff agreement on the reduction of customs duties under the GATT.
