On 14 May 1957, René Mayer, President of the ECSC High Authority, presents the Annual Report of the European Coal and Steel Community to the Common Assembly.
By this Resolution of 7 May 1953, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe welcomes wholeheartedly the establishment of the links between the the Consultative Assembly and the Common Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC).

Am 13. Dezember 1951 stimmt die französische Nationalversammlung trotz des heftigen Widerstandes der gaullistischen und kommunistischen Abgeordneten für die Ratifizierung des Vertrags zur Gründung der Europäischen Gemeinschaft für Kohle und Stahl (EGKS).

Am 5. Februar 1952 zeigt die hohe Enthaltungsrate bei der Ratifizierung des Vertrags über die Gründung der EGKS durch den belgischen Senat vor allem den Widerstand der sozialistischen Mitglieder, denen zufolge der Schuman-Plan der Bergbauindustrie des Landes schaden wird.
In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD) wird der Vertrag zur Gründung der Europäischen Gemeinschaft für Kohle und Stahl (EGKS) nach einer letzten Lesung des Textes im Bundesrat am 1. Februar 1952 ratifiziert.
