Resolution 492 (1971) of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe (8 July 1971)
Text In this resolution dated 8 July 1971, the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe proposes that the prelude to the ‘Ode to Joy’, the fourth movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, be accepted by member countries as the European anthem.
