He welcomes the efforts made by the Government in the area of international policy and congratulates Gaston Thorn, President of the Government and Foreign Minister, for his appointment as President of the United Nations General Assembly. Pierre Werner also discusses major European issues including the establishment of a European union and the creation of an economic and monetary union.
