Declaration by the Ecofin Council on Economic and Monetary Union (1 May 1998)
Texte On 1 May 1998, with a view to the transition to the third stage of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) on 1 January 1999 and the introduction of the single currency, the Council of Economic and Finance Ministers places particular emphasis on the importance of pursuing the process of economic and monetary convergence of the Member States of the European Union.
