On 12 May 1995, Franz Etzel, German Vice-President of the High Authority, assesses the achievements of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) five years after the Schuman Declaration paved the way for its establishment.

On 24 July 1957, Pierre Uri, Director of the General Economy Division of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), draws up a note addressed to Jean Monnet, President of the Action Committee for the United States of Europe (ACUSE), in which he sets out a series of arguments in favour of the institutions of the ECSC, the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) sharing a single seat.

On 2 June 1955, commenting on the meeting attended by the Foreign Ministers of the Six in Messina, the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit welcomes the rapprochement between Ludwig Erhard, Minister for Economic Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), and Franz Etzel, Vice-President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), as regards the direction in which the revival of European integration should be led.

In April 1955, Frantz Etzel, Vice-President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), responds to the views of Ludwig Erhard, German Minister for Economic Affairs, on the subject of the revival of European integration. He emphasises the need to continue European integration in the economic domain as well as in the political and institutional fields.

On 2 June 1955, Franz Etzel, German Vice-President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), sends a letter to Ludwig Erhard, German Minister for Economic Affairs, in which he asks for details of the West German Government’s European policy following statements in the press regarding further moves towards European integration.
