In 1952, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) publishes a poster illustrating the US aid granted to Austria under the Marshall Plan and speculates over the future of the country’s petroleum resources.

In 1988, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) issues a pamphlet in which it highlights the dangers for Austria of accession to the European Communities (EC).

On 24 March 2011 in Nicosia, Markos Kyprianou, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, meets Michael Spindelegger, Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs. During this meeting, they refer to issues including bilateral relations, the advancement of cooperation between their two countries, international and regional issues of mutual interest and Turkey’s EU accession process.

On 8 February 1995, Thomas Klestil, President of the Republic of Austria, delivers an address at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London in which he outlines Austria’s expectations and ambitions in the enlarged European Union.

On 1 March 1989, the four Austrian social partners publish a joint statement of views on Austria’s European policy. They emphasise the importance for Austria of taking part in the European integration process in order to safeguard the country’s economic and social achievements.

On 31 July 1991, in Brussels, Frans Andriessen, Vice-President of the Commission of the European Communities with special responsibility for External Relations and Commercial Policy and Cooperation with other European Countries, comments on the opinion delivered by the European Commission on Austria’s application for accession to the Communities.
