At the event The WEU archives: discover a chapter of European defence, held in Luxembourg City on 17 December 2012, Josée Kirps, Director of the Luxembourg National Archives, particularly focuses on Luxembourg’s role in Western European Union (WEU) from 1948 to 2011 and describes the project to host and promote the value of the WEU archives and to make them available for research purposes.

At the event The WEU archives: discover a chapter of European defence, held in Luxembourg City on 17 December 2012, Marianne Backes, Director of the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe, describes the project to house the WEU archives at the Luxembourg National Archives and to give the CVCE the task of exploiting these holdings for research purposes.

At the event The WEU archives: discover a chapter of European defence, held in Luxembourg City on 17 December 2012, André Dumoulin of the École Royale Militaire in Brussels and lecturer at the University of Liège gives a lecture entitled ‘Western European Union: Witness, symbol and victim of a nascent Europe of security and defence’.
