Telegram from David Bruce to Dean Acheson (Paris, 4 June 1950)
Text On 4 June 1950, David Bruce, US Ambassador to Paris, sends a telegram to Dean Acheson, US Secretary of State, in which he expresses his regret at the United Kingdom's decision not to take part in the implementation of the Schuman Plan and emphasises the importance of congratulating France for its leadership in this matter. According to the US Ambassador to Paris, it is essential that the United States reaffirm its support for the plan to pool European coal and steel production.
