Text On 10 November 1956, the Directorate-General for Political Affairs in the French Foreign Ministry reviews the Suez intervention and analyses the consequences of the diplomatic fiasco that was the French-British campaign. It particularly emphasises that France’s allies must share a considerable part of the burden of responsibility and criticises the United Kingdom for its reluctance to act and its clumsy approach.
