Note from the Directorate for Political Affairs in the French Foreign Ministry on the SAC (Paris, 5 February 1973)
Text On 5 February 1973, in anticipation of the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Western European Union (WEU), due to be held at ministerial level on 15 February 1973 in Luxembourg City, the Directorate for Political Affairs in the French Foreign Ministry draws up a note for the minister delegate, André Bettencourt, on the Standing Armaments Committee (SAC). The Directorate for Political Affairs focuses on the complexity of the question of armaments standardisation and compares the various organisations (SAC, FINABEL, Eurogroup, NAS, CNAD, etc.) that deal with the same issue. It concludes that attempts must be made to maintain and strengthen the SAC.
