Mémorandum de Clement Attlee sur l'indépendance de l'Inde (Londres, 22 mai 1947)

Dans un mémorandum du 22 mai 1947, le Premier ministre britannique Clement Attlee revient sur la mission attribuée à Lord Mountbatten, vice-roi des Indes, de préparer l'indépendance des Indes. Alors que le gouvernement britannique préfère la solution d'un État uni, Lord Mountbatten ne voit plus de solution pour convaincre les différents leaders politiques de son plan. Une partition de l'Inde semble inévitable.
