Text Le 20 novembre 1961, Richard Gordon Turnbull envoie au bureau britannique des Colonies le discours qu'il souhaite prononcer lors de la cérémonie organisée à l'occasion de la proclamation d'indépendance du Tanganyika le 9 décembre 1961. Richard Turnbull est le dernier gouverneur du Tanganyika (1958-1961). Il devient gouverneur général à l'indépendance du pays.
