The Communities’ road towards political union

The establishment of the European Communities is the first step on the long road towards the political unification of the continent. With this objective in mind, projects of varying degrees of audacity and practicality are seeing the light of day, marking successive stages in an original process which combines the supranational integration method with the intergovernmental cooperation method.
