Texte On 5 September 1957, the French daily newspaper Le Monde reports on a statement by Ferhat Abbas in which he denies the influence of communism on the National Liberation Front (FLN). He affirms that the FLN’s weapons all come from the West and emphasises the FLN’s commitment to finding a peaceful solution with France.
