Cartoon by Pinatel on France’s ratification of the Rome Treaties (9 July 1957)
Image ‘Common Market.’ On 9 July 1957, in the Paris daily newspaper Combat, the cartoonist Pinatel depicts the French people’s fear of any resurgence of the economic power of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) in the event of the ratification of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (EEC).
