On 13 May 1958, in Strasbourg, Paul Finet, President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), gives the European Parliamentary Assembly (EPA) an overview of the measures taken by the High Authority to deal with the economic difficulties affecting the European coal and steel industries.

On 20 July 1961, the Irish Government sends to the governments of the Six a memorandum in which it sets out the objectives of and terms for that country’s accession to the European Communities.

On 16 September 1960, Guy Mines, Head of the Private Office of Albert Wehrer, a Member of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), sends a note to Albert Duhr, Legation Counsellor in the Luxembourg Foreign Ministry, refuting the arguments of French President Charles de Gaulle on the poor operation of the European executive bodies, especially with regard to the High Authority and the coal industry crisis.

On 31 May 1950, the Luxembourg Embassy in Paris informs the French Foreign Ministry of the Luxembourg Government’s intention to participate in negotiations on the basis of the French proposal of 9 May for the establishment of a European coal and steel pool.

On 23 October 1958, Paul Finet, President of the ECSC High Authority, gives an address to the European Parliamentary Assembly in which he attempts to define the seriousness of the coal crisis affecting Belgium and Germany in particular and details the measures taken by the High Authority to stabilise the coal market.

On 16 December 1958, in response to the statement made by the President of the ECSC High Authority, Paul Finet, on 23 October 1958, the European Parliamentary Assembly adopts a resolution which calls on the High Authority and the Council of Ministers to streamline and coordinate more effectively import and export policies for European coal products.

On 10 August 1961, the Danish mission to the European Economic Community (EEC) sends a memorandum to the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers which sets out that country’s position on possible negotiations for accession.

On 13 April 1955, Jean Monnet, the outgoing President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), and Pierre Uri, Director of the General Economy Division of the High Authority, draw up an unofficial draft Declaration — for the attention of Paul-Henri Spaak — for the Conference which the Foreign Ministers of the six Member States of the ECSC are scheduled to attend in late May.

On 15 April 1955, Jean Monnet, the outgoing President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), and Pierre Uri, Director of the General Economy Division of the High Authority, draw up an unofficial draft Communiqué — for the attention of Paul-Henri Spaak — for the Conference which the Foreign Ministers of the six Member States of the ECSC are scheduled to attend in late May.

On 13 April 1955, Jean Monnet, the outgoing President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC), and Pierre Uri, Director at the High Authority, draw up a draft declaration on behalf of the Six on the progressive integration of national markets.
