Statement by the French Government on disarmament (25 January 1978)

Text
On 25 January 1978, French President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing outlines France’s position on disarmament. He states that disarmament is a shared responsibility and should be carried out with the cooperation, under the control and for the benefit of all concerned. France suggests that action should be taken at global level, and also at regional level by both nuclear and non-nuclear regions. The country suggests holding a European disarmament conference for these regions.
