Text On 15 June 2005, in a lengthy article published in the French daily newspaper Le Monde, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, former President of the French Republic and former President of the European Convention, analyses the causes and the political consequences of the negative outcome of the referendum held on 29 May 2005 in France on the ratification of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe.
