On 18 December 2002, at the Maison du Luxembourg in Brussels, the 1921 Convention establishing the Belgium–Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) is renewed with the signatures of Luxembourg Foreign Minister Lydie Polfer and her Belgian counterpart Louis Michel. The renewed Convention will enable the two countries to extend their cooperation beyond the economic and monetary fields, providing a framework for enhanced political and administrative collaboration.
