Image ‘Adenauer shops at the Common Market.’ On 4 April 1957, the Belgian Communist daily newspaper Le Drapeau Rouge harshly criticises the vulnerability of the European Economic Community (EEC) and deplores Chancellor Konrad Adenauer’s complacency with regard to the industrial cartels of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG).
