Negotiations are set to be difficult, and the items on the agenda are starting to pile up (‘Common Market’, ‘delegation of French MPs to East Berlin’, ‘Chinese policy’). Slumped in his armchair, Federal Chancellor Erhard seems exhausted at the many demands made by France. Prime Minister Pompidou is waving a fan to keep him cool, while Marianne is pouring a cognac to boost the spirits of the German partner.
