Image On 7 May 1948, Senator Pieter Adriaan Kerstens, Vice-President of the European League for Economic Cooperation (ELEC) and Chairman of the Dutch Committee for a United Europe, gives the inaugural address at the Congress of Europe in The Hague in the presence, in particular, of Winston Churchill, former British Prime Minister, Paul Ramadier, Princess Juliana of the Netherlands and her husband, Prince Bernhard.
