Meeting on 26 June 1960 between Abdirashid Ali Shermarke (on the right) and Aden Abdullah Osman Daar (on the left). A few days later, on 1 July 1960, Somalia gains independence. Abdirashid Ali Shermarke becomes Prime Minister of Somalia and Aden Abdullah Osman Daar becomes President.
