Text On 13 April 1970, the Committee of Governors of the Central Banks of the Member States of the European Economic Community (EEC), chaired by Baron Ansiaux, meets in Basel to analyse the first meetings of the Werner Group, tasked with drawing up a report on the establishment by stages of an economic and monetary union in the EEC.
