Bild On 23 July 1972, the tariffs agreement signed in Brussels by the countries of the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) puts an end to the 'Forest of signs in Europe' with a view to facilitating trade links between the 16 European countries.
