Text In a diplomatic cable dated 20 May 1970, the Italian Embassy in Luxembourg informs its Foreign Ministry of the outcome of the official visit to Paris by Luxembourg Prime Minister Pierre Werner and Foreign Minister Gaston Thorn. As well as various bilateral issues, the talks between Georges Pompidou and Pierre Werner focused on France’s position on economic and monetary union and on UK accession to the EC.
