Le 6 mai 1953, le président américain Dwight D. Eisenhower adresse à l'ambassadeur américain en France cette lettre dans laquelle il indique tout l'intérêt que portent les États-Unis au conflit en Indochine et confirme le soutien des États-Unis à la France.
