Le 24 juillet 1947, le Premier ministre britannique Clement Attlee fait le point des négociations menées avec le président de l'Assemblée constituante birmane Thakin Nu sur l'indépendance de la Birmanie et revient plus particulièrement sur l'organisation du transfert du pouvoir.
