Texte On 31 August 1990, in Berlin, Wolfgang Schäuble, Interior Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), and Günther Krause, Junior Minister to Lothar de Maizière, Prime Minister of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), sign the Unification Treaty establishing a single federal democratic state.
