Transcription of the interview with Ignazio Visco, senior official at the Bank of Italy since 1971 and Governor of the Bank of Italy since 2011, carried out by the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE) on 16 October 2012 in Rome. The interview was conducted by Renaud Dehousse, Professor and holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law and Political Science at Sciences Po Paris and Director of the European Studies Centre, and particularly focuses on the following aspects of Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa’s life: his personality, his work at the Bank of Italy, his vision of the economy, his role as Italian Minister for the Economy and Finance (2006–2008) and his commitment to European integration.
