Text On 10 May 1955, the day after the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) became a Member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), the German daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung describes the ceremonies which took place at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris.
