'Roger De Staercke elected President of the Economic and Social Committee' from Le Soir
Text On 14 October 1959, the Economic and Social Committee of the European Communities elects its first President, the Belgian Roger De Staercke, along with all the members of its Bureau. In the days which follow, the Bureau gets ready to enter into negotiations with the Council regarding the provisions of the Committee’s Rules of Procedure.
