NATO naval exercise in the Mediterranean (Malta, 16–21 April 1961)

In April 1961, naval forces from the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) gather in the bay of Sliema on the island of Malta to participate in the Medflex Invicta naval exercise in the Mediterranean. From 16 to 21 April, nearly 50 US, British, Italian, French, Greek and Turkish warships take part in this large-scale military exercise.
