Video In this interview excerpt, Jean-Claude Juncker, Prime Minister of Luxembourg and President of the Eurogroup, looks back on the circumstances that led to his interest, as Finance Minister and President of the Ecofin Council in 1991, in the work of the Delors Committee, which paved the way for Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) in the Treaty of Maastricht. He also emphasises the parallels between the work of the Delors Committee and that of the Werner Group, tasked in 1970 with drawing up a report on the achievement by stages of an economic and monetary union in the European Community.
