From November 2006 to June 2008, the Council of Europe carries out a ‘Campaign to Combat Violence against Women, including Domestic Violence’ to raise public awareness of one of the most serious forms of gender-based violations of human rights and to promote the implementation of effective measures by public authorities to prevent and combat violence against women.
