Closing address by René Pleven at the Brazzaville Conference (8 February 1944)

On 8 February 1944, in his closing address, René Pleven, Commissioner for the Colonies in the French Committee for National Liberation (CFLN), gives a positive assessment of the Brazzaville Conference. This conference between the governors of the French colonies of Sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar, which took place from 30 January to 8 February 1944, was convened by the provisional government of General de Gaulle to determine the future relations between France and its colonies.
