On 12 May 1948, in the British daily newspaper Evening Standard, cartoonist David Low comments on the outcome of the Congress of Europe in The Hague and emphasises the determination of both left- and right-wing political parties in Britain to join forces in order to play a leading role in the future of a united Europe.
