Address given by Willy Brandt on the policy of détente and the European Communities (Berlin, 10 December 1973)
Text On 10 December 1973, on the eve of the signing of the Treaty of Mutual Relations between the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and Czechoslovakia, the German Chancellor, Willy Brandt, delivers to the press in Berlin an address in which he emphasises the efforts made by the Federal Government to overcome the antagonism between East and West with a view to bringing about détente in Europe.
