MyPublications

Towards the end of 2014 we launched a beta version of the Digital Toolbox. Its functionality and features will continue to be developed throughout 2015. So far, we have concentrated our efforts on the MyPublications authoring tool for European integration, developed following the recent adoption of the Scrum methodology

By using all of the CVCE's freely available resources, which include historical documents, press articles, pictures and multimedia material, in conjunction with the CVCE's MyPublications tool, users will be able to compile their own:

  1. ePublications — build publications on specific European integration topics;
  2. Teaching materials — create and share teaching material derived from CVCE resources;
  3. Learning resources — develop tailor-made learning resources to support their studies.

The MyPublications tool enables CVCE.eu you to create ePublications on topics of interest to meet your own specific research, teaching and learning needs by organising and structuring CVCE resources, such as historical documents, press articles, photographs and other multimedia material, alongside your own text.

The tool includes a presentation viewer, a simple interface where you can sequentially read through your ePublication (like a book!) and share it with colleagues, peers and friends.

About the technology

The authoring tool is built using client-side technology, a combination of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, to create an interface that calls, saves and embeds links to any digital data and resources within the CVCE collection that are stored using our content management system. The resulting MyPublication is essentially a series of sequential links to the data and resources and the original texts provided by the user (sections, sub-sections and paragraphs), all stored alongside the metadata in a MYSQL database.
