Bild ‘Oh well — back to the compass.’ On 27 November 1967, General de Gaulle uses his veto to oppose the United Kingdom's accession to the European common market. For George Brown, British Foreign Minister, and for Harold Wilson, British Prime Minister, the road to unified Europe seems to be blocked off.
