Short biography

Donald A. Ritchie served as a member of the Senate Historical Office from 1976 to 2015.  He holds a B.A. from the City College of New York (1967), and an MA (1969) and Ph.D. (1975) from the University of Maryland.  From 1990 to 2000 he taught at the Cornell in Washington Program.  A former president of the Oral History Association, he also was a member of the councils of the American Historical Association and the International Oral History Association, and has been a frequent historical commentator in the media. His book Press Gallery received the Richard W. Leopold Prize from the Organization of American Historians; and Electing FDR received the George Pendleton Prize from the Society for History in the Federal Government.

Donald A. Ritchie is a member of the peer review committee for the ‘Oral history of European integration’ collection published in the CVCE.eu digital research infrastructure on European integration.
