Le 24 septembre 1946, commentant l'organisation répétée de congrès fédéralistes en Suisse, le quotidien italien Il nuovo Corriere della Sera tente de définir la notion d'esprit européen et insiste sur les valeurs qui le caractérisent.
En 1948, le fédéraliste Alexandre Marc publie A hauteur d'homme : la révolution fédéraliste, livre dans lequel il dresse un premier bilan des activités fédéralistes en faveur de l'Europe unie.
Lors du congrès du Mouvement fédéraliste européen organisé à Milan du 15 au 17 février 1948, Henri Brugmans prononce un discours sur l'indépendance de l'Europe face aux États-Unis et à l'Union soviétique.
